What is immersive art? A guide to your first visit to MINA

At MINA – Museum of Immersive New Art, art doesn’t hang on a wall. It surrounds you. Projections cover the walls and the floor, music and sound come from every direction, and you become part of the story. If you’re visiting us for the first time, here’s what to expect.

What immersive art means

Immersive art turns an artwork into a space you can move through. At MINA, the paintings of great masters, ancient worlds and the depths of the ocean are recreated digitally and projected in 360°, with a soundtrack composed specially for each show. There is no single “right spot” to watch from: every corner of the room shows you something different.

What you can see

– Masters and masterpieces – journeys through the worlds of artists such as Van Gogh, Monet, Kandinsky and Matisse.
– Extraordinary worlds – stories about the Olympian gods, ocean life, dinosaurs and Ancient Egypt.
– MINA Specials – film screenings, concerts and special experiences, announced in the programme.
The line-up differs from city to city, so check the “Immersive Shows” page of your city.

How the visit works

Shows run in sessions, usually two shows per session. You can sit on the bean bags, lie down on the floor or walk around.
